One to Watch – Seymour

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 18

Group II winner Fontiton was a hot commodity at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale fetching $1.1million, however she produced just two foals before her premature death last year and the first of those made a winning debut at Seymour on Thursday.

Trained by Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr, two year-old Written Tycoon filly Pinkham was a hot favourite for the 1000 maiden and made it look all too easy when coasting home to win by two and a half lengths in a quick 57.53 seconds on a soft track.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Mick Price Racing/Suman Hedge Bloodstock, Pinkham was bred by SF Bloodstock and was foaled and raised at Newgate.

Winner of the Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude, Fontiton was a half-sister by Turffontein to Group III winner Sartorial Splendor.

Her second and final foal is a Snitzel colt that was sold by Newgate at Magic Millions this year for $570,000 to Ciaron Maher Racing/Dermot Farrington Bloodstock.
