First Winner for Territories

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 10

Darley shuttler Territories (IRE) became the latest son of champion sire Invincible Spirit to post a winner when he sired his first winner at Chantilly in France overnight with a debut victory for Rougir.

The Cedric Rossi trained filly won the 1400m contest by a length.

"She's very good. My father was a trainer and now I'm a trainer, but we've never had such a good horse. She's very professional and was able to win without having a hard race,” Cedric Rossi told  Jour de Galop.

"She has a lot of scope to progress, she only saw the grass two times in training and the distance of 1,400m suits her well. The jockey [Mickael Barzalona] thinks she has a lot of quality too."

Rougir was a €55,000 yearling purchase at last year's Arqana August Sale and is the second winner from stakes-placed Elusive City mare Summer Moon.

Rourgir is the first winner for Group I winner Territories, who returns to Darley NSW this spring at a fee of $11,000.

Territories has sired his first winner

His first Australian bred progeny are yearlings and sold for up to $350,000 at sales this year with 12 in total averaging $114,708
