Trained by John McArdle, So Let’s Toast was favourite for the 1105m maiden but after drawing the outside gate in a field of 11, he was forced to go back and make a wide run.

The tougher task proved no hurdle to success as he unwound a big finish for Daniel Stackhouse to charge home and win by the best part of a length.

“We were very confident ability wise, but he’s just very raw as you saw the way he was pre-race, he got himself into a bit of a mess, although calmed down when he went with the pony,” said stable representative Brady McArdle.

“He did everything right in the race, although when the pressure came on, he started to wander a bit but ability got him over the line.

“We think he’s a nice horse with spring potential, but we’ll let him guide us and see how he pulls up. He might have one more run and then we’ll tip him out.”

A $135,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Willow Park Stud draft for Slade Bloodstock, So Let’s Toast was bred by Willow Park in partnership and is the first winner for Slainte, a half-sister by Not a Single Doubt to stakes-winner Bigelow.

So You Think stands at Coolmore at a fee of $38,500.
