First Runner a Winner for Air Force Blue

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 8

European Champion 2-Year-Old Air Force Blue (USA) shuttled to Coolmore Australia for just one season, but enjoyed a perfect start to his stud career with his first runner in the US a winner over the weekend with Beauty Queen scoring on debut at Gulfstream Park.

Running over 4 ½ furlongs on dirt, Beauty Queen was a total professional when racing patiently in midpack as the leaders raced a few lengths in front of the rest of the field. Jockey Cristian Torres let the filly out a notch as they entered the turn and she closed quickly to draw even with the leaders down the stretch.

Pulling away in the closing stages of the race, Beauty Queen won by 1 ¾ lengths.

Bred by Hallmarc Stallions, Beauty Queen is out of the winning Medaglia d’Oro mare Beautiful One, who has four winners from five to race.

Air Force Blue has sired his first winner

By champion sire War Front, Air Force Blue produced 59 foals from his lone trip to Australia and they are yearlings that sold for up to $250,000 at the sales here this year. He has had 16 yearlings sell in total at an average $88,031.
