First Winner for Shalaa

Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (IRE) posted his first winner in France overnight where Cherie Amour saluted at Clairefontaine.

Trained by Andre Fabre, Cherie Amour won by two lengths as favourite over 7f at her second start having finished third on debut at Deauville last month.



A 250,000 euro purchase from Arqana, Cherie Amour is bred to be going early as a three-quarter sister to Group I winning juvenile National Defense (IRE), who shuttles to Sun Stud in Victoria and stands this spring at a fee of $9,900.

Cherie Amour is the fifth winner from five to race from Angel Falls, a half-sister to Group III winner Anna Salai and stakes-winners Iguazu Falls and Advice.

Cherie Amour is the first winner for Shalaa, a Group I winning son of Invincible Spirit that stands at a fee of $33,000 at Arrowfield.

Shalaa yearlings have been popular at sales here this year with 58 selling at an average $168,258, his top seller a colt from Jemison that made $600,000 at Magic Millions.
