Kermadec Filly Breaks Maiden on Debut

Well-schooled with five barrier trials, the Richard and Michael Freedman-trained filly Seduction Queen made the best possible start to her career over 1300 metres at Goulburn on Friday to chalk up winner number two for Darley Stud’s Kermadec.

Seduction Queen was an $80,000 Gold Coast Yearling

The lone 2yo in the field, Seduction Queen travelled sweetly midfield but when Shaun Guymer asked for an effort she scrambled around the turn and looked lost.

Once balanced up the daughter of Kermadec let down impressively to defeat the 4yo Pierro mare Petaluma by a length with another 4yo daughter of Pierro, Natanya a further length and a half back in third.

Purchased by Heart Thoroughbreds for $80,000 out of the Raheen Stud draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Seduction Queen is a half-sister to five winners including the Group III BRC Sprint winner Snippets Land (Snippetson), the stakes-placed Canny Franco (Canny Lad), and the prolific winner Outback Saga (Real Saga).

Her dam Seduction Line (Testa Rossa) has a yearling colt by All Too Hard and a weanling colt by Sooboog.

She was covered by Fastnet Rock’s Group 1 winning son Heroic Valour last spring.

Though he has had less than a handful of starters to date, Kermadec has several promising performers, which includes his only other winner Montefilia who was a last start fourth in the Group III The Schweppervescence at Rosehill.

A dual Group I winning son of Teofilo (IRE), Kermadec will stand at a fee of $13,750 this spring at Darley’s Kelvinside property at Aberdeen.
