Deep Field 2YO Salutes at Canterbury

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 27

The winners keep coming for Newgate Farm’s exciting young sire Deep Field with promising two year-old colt Concealed leading home a trifecta for the Peter and Paul Snowden stable when scoring at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Fifth on debut at Kembla earlier this month when he was slowly away and luckless in running, Concealed made amends with a strong finishing run to win the 1250 metre maiden by a long head on the line.

“He saw no daylight at all at Kembla over the last 300 metres but handled the wet track well and I think that stood him in good stead for today,” said Paul Snowden.

A $310,000 Magic Millions purchase for China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock from the Kia Ora Stud draft, Concealed is the second winner from imported Group III winner Ashley’s Kitty (USA), a half-sister by Tale of the Cat to Group I winner Cupid and Group III winner Heart Ashley (USA), who is also in Australia at Kia Ora Stud.

Concealed was a $310,000 Magic Millions purchase

Concealed is the 11th two year-old winner this season for Deep Field with the only sires to post more two year-old winners being Snitzel and I Am Invincible.

Deep Field has had a fee increase this year and stands at $55,000 at Newgate Farm.
