Hat-Trick for Undefeated Peltzer

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 23

So You Think celebrated his 100th winner of the season on Friday and kept the winning groove going when his exciting colt Peltzer kept his unbeaten record intact with a commanding victory at Randwick.

Peltzer makes it three wins in as many starts.

Trying a heavy 8 surface and burdened with 59kg, Peltzer quickly found the front and was never headed, coasting home to win the 1300 metre contest as he pleased by four lengths.

The Gerald Ryan trained colt has raised the bar every time he’s stepped out and with three wins from as many starts has already banked nearly $160,000 in prizemoney.

“He was very good again today,” Gerald Ryan told Andrew Bensley.

“He’s won on good, soft and now heavy and he can lead or come off them, so he’s very adaptable.”

Ryan is now leaning towards spelling Peltzer in preference to a Queensland campaign given he has his eyes on spring success with a race like the Group I ATC Golden Rose (1400m) an obvious target.

Peltzer as a yearling A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gerald Ryan Racing/David Raphael, Peltzer was offered by renowned South Australian nursery Mill Park.

Peltzer is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to stakes-winner So We Are and is the first winner from Miss Otto, a half-sister by Elusive Quality (USA) to Group II placed Miss With Attitude, the dam of stakes-winner Crown Towers.

Peltzer’s grand-dam is by Flying Spur, a sire that has worked previously with So You Think to produce Group I ATC Surround Stakes (1400m) winner Nakeeta Jane.

Mill Park sold the current yearling from Miss Otto, a colt by Street Boss (USA), at Magic Millions Adelaide this year for $75,000 to Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock.

Miss Otto produced another filly by So You Think last year and is back in foal to Coolmore’s champion son of High Chaparral (IRE).
