Yarraman Park elected to reduce the fee on I Am Invincible this spring to $209,000 in light of looming global financial difficulties arising from pandemic, however he remains Australia’s most expensive sire so the time is right to take a ‘closer look’.

The statistics from that first crop of foals sired by I Am Invincible paint the picture as to why he is now Australia’s most expensive sire.
The 2011 foal crop produced 96 live foals, 80 of them raced and 70 won at least one race.Those winners featured seven stakes-winners including G1 winners Brazen Beau and Voodoo Lad representing nearly 9% stakes-winners to runners bred from mares that could best be described as average and at worst a long way below that.
Of the champion stallions we have looked at so far in this series, none started at a low base like I Am Invincible did, with Snitzel the next lowest starting off at a fee of $33,000, three times that of I Am Invincible.
Most elite stallions are propelled to an extent by the mares they cover and even a fairly average sire backed by good quality, well selected mares can usually produce a respectable result, but I Am Invincible is that rare stallion, who doesn’t need good mares to make it happen.
His unique ability to upgrade the most pedestrian mare is a quality that will make sure I Am Invincible is discussed by breeders and pedigree experts far into the future, long after all of us are gone.
