$800,000 for Star Thoroughbreds Mare Noire

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 8

Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds have had plenty of thrills from talented Foxwedge mare Noire and she gave then a fitting final hurrah at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale when selling for $800,000 to the bid of Japanese breeder Katsumi Yoshida.

Lot 55 Noire sold for $800,000

Consigned by Glenesk Thoroughbreds as agent, Noire was trained by Chris Waller and won nearly $700,000 on the track winning the Group II ATC Shannon Stakes and placing in this year’s Group I ATC Coolmore Classic.

Noire was bred in Queensland by Highgrove Stud and was bought by Star Thoroughbreds from Inglis Easter for $135,000 so has been a fabulous investment.

She comes from a family packed with Black Type and is a half-sister to Group II placed Global Dream, the dam of this season’s Group III ATC Breeders Plate winner Global Quest.

Her sire Foxwedge is noted for his top class fillies and stands at Woodside Park this spring at the bargain fee of $11,000.
