Akeed Mofeed 2YO Impresses at Sha Tin

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 3

The equal highest priced yearling by Hong Kong champion Akeed Mofeed (GB) opened his account with a stylish win at Sha Tin on Sunday.

Like That - image HKJCTrained by John Moore and ridden by Zac Purton, two year-old gelding Like That scored a half length win in the griffin plate over 1100 metres at his second start.

Like That tracked his rivals under Purton and showed a good turn of foot to surge past them and win.

“I’m really happy with that, he came off the bit really well,” Moore said. “He just needed the extra three weeks. He’s a miler and I said to Zac to just drop him in behind – he’s won without touching him.”

Like That was a $200,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for Gary Moore Racing from the Goldin Farms draft.

Like That was bred by Goldin Farms and is the third winner from Calemore, a half-sister by More Than Ready (USA) to Group I winner Lady of the Pines.

Calemore has been married to Akeed Mofeed and been to him for the past five seasons.

The champion son of Dubawi is now at Swettenham Stud and is priced this spring at $16,500.

Akeed Mofeed stands at Swettenham Stud at a fee of $16,500
