Cosmic Force to Stand Alongside Deep Field

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 3

Group II winning sprinter Cosmic Force has been retired and will stand alongside his sire Deep Field at Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $16,500.

Cosmic Force ran a race record in the G2 Roman Consul StakesDeep Field is the leading Australian second crop sire by winners and is also the leading sire of three year-old winners in the country with Cosmic Force his best colt to date.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden for a syndicate that included Newgate Farm, China Horse Club and partners, Cosmic Force was competitive with star colts Microphone and Bivouac at two.

He won the Group III ATC Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) by seven lengths and was favourite for the Golden Slipper won by Kiamichi.

He returned at three to win the Group II ATC Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) beating Standout and Microphone and retires with three wins and four seconds from 11 starts with earnings in excess of $480,000.

The Roman Consul Stakes has been won by future stallion prospects Russian Revolution, Exosphere, Brazen Beau, Zoustar, Foxwedge, Fastnet Rock and Exceed And Excel with Cosmic Force posting a race record in the prestigious sprint clocking 1:08.14 seconds.

“For me, he was a ready-made racehorse. When he was on song, he was dynamic. There’s no reason why Cosmic Force won’t be a force to be reckoned with; he was a good type, he had pace, he was sound. He’s got a good mindset to put into his yearlings and I think he has all the ingredients to make good racehorses,” said Peter Snowden.

“He was the best three-year-old we had and in my mind he stays at that level. He was a fast horse with a great turn of foot and he was just a magnificent type with good athleticism.”
