First Winner for Office Bearer

Mark Smith - Friday May 1

The Esplin family’s talented sprinter Office Bearer is off the mark as a stallion with the Pat Farrell-trained One To Remember leading all the way in a 2yo maiden at Muswellbrook on Friday.

Ridden by Jenny Duggan, One To Remember held the booming finish of the Shamus Award gelding Go Gadget by a half-neck with the favoured Time For War filly Time For Peace a half-length back in third.

It was the second start for One To Remember who led the up before weakening when unplaced behind the promising I Am Invincible colt Kinloch at Newcastle on April 23.Office Bearer is off the mark

Bred by Tim and Celie Nolan at their Murrulla Stud where Office Bearer stands, One To Remember is the first foal of the hard-knocking Summa Cum Laude mare Belle Laude who won five and placed in six of her 42 starts on the northern NSW circuit.

A son of the Group 1 American performer Officer, Office Bearer arrived in Australia in utero. His dam, the Street Cry (USA) mare Street 'Em Sheila (USA) is a daughter of the Australian-bred, South African Group 1 winner Super Sheila (Last Tycoon).

Office Bearer won his first three starts and went on to win the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes at Sandown when trained by Peter Moody.

Standing at Murrulla Stud at a fee of $2,200, Office Bearer is going to have to do it the hard way. He had 15 foals in his first crop but less than a handful of foals in each of his following two crops.
