One to Watch – Kembla

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 28

When a two year-old by So You Think wins a 1000 metre maiden on debut running away we straight away want to put him on a watch list for next season.

The Gerald Ryan trained colt Peltzer kicked off his career with an impressive effort at Kembla on Tuesday storming home to win by a length and a quarter in a brisk 57.28 seconds.

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gerald Ryan Racing/David Raphael, he was offered by renowned South Australian nursery Mill Park, who enjoyed a very successful weekend producing three stakes-winners last Saturday in Dalasan, Dawn Passage and Ecumenical.

Peltzer is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to stakes-winner So We Are and is the first winner from Miss Otto, a half-sister by Elusive Quality (USA) to Group II placed Miss With Attitude, the dam of stakes-winner Crown Towers.

Peltzer’s grand-dam is by Flying Spur, a sire that has worked previously with So You Think to produce Group I winner Nakeeta Jane.

Mill Park sold the current yearling from Miss Otto, a colt by Street Boss (USA), at Magic Millions Adelaide this year for $75,000 to Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock.

Miss Otto produced another filly by So You Think last year and is back in foal to Coolmore’s champion son of High Chaparral (IRE).
