Kings Legacy Completes Sires Produce - Champagne Stakes Double

When Bowman presented King’s Legacy in the straight he looked set for an east win but found a willing opponent in Edinburgh Park’s Fastnet Rock colt Glenfiddich who was not going to go down without a fight before falling a half-neck fourth.

The high-class Written Tycoon colt Ole Kirk came from the tail of the field to be a further one and a quarter lengths back in third.

King’s Legacy broke his maiden at his second start in the Group III B.J. McLachlan Stakes at Eagle Farm on December 28 before his fifth in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic and ninth in the Golden Slipper before his triumph in the Sires.

Bowman revealed that Coolmore had purchased a stake in the striking son of Redoute’s Choice.

“He’s an exceptional colt. I’ve been informed that Coolmore has bought into him, he’s got an impeccable pedigree and he has franked that he is one of the best colts in the country,” Bowman revealed.

“I can only see him improving as a three-year-old. I won't start delving into his race programming but I think he would be a Golden Rose, Caulfield Guineas type of horse.

“The way he attacked the line this afternoon was exceptional in a testing mile.

“He is the full package and is just hitting his straps as an autumn two-year-old so you can only see him develop physically because mentally he is all there.

“He was given a peach of a ride. He was the one you wanted to be on, he travelled so well and quickened nicely, I think this is just the start of what you will see as a three-year-old, he is definitely a horse that will train on, he is a horse with a lot of substance and a good bit of quality about him.

“He’s a nice colt and there is no doubt he will be better as a three-year-old and he’s doing this on raw ability at the moment.

“He’s got the right attitude, a good turn of foot, relaxes really well and can quicken which is a big asset to have. He is a quality colt and we’ll be hearing a lot more of him later on.”    

The third top-priced lot at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, King’s Legacy was purchased by James Harron Bloodstock for $1.4 million out of the Segenhoe Stud draft.

Bred by Segenhoe Stud, King’s Legacy is the second foal and the first to race out of the multiple stakes-placed Hussonet mare Breakfast In Bed.

Purchased by Paul Moroney Bloodstock for $220,000 at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Breakfast In Bed was a 7-time winner.

Her pedigree received a big update when her half-sister Oohood (I Am Invincible) won the Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes and placed in the ATC Golden Slipper Slipper, Sires' Produce Stakes, MRC Caulfield Guineas and Blue Diamond Stakes.

Breakfast In Bed and Oohood are out of the Sydney winning Sunday Silence mare Bella Sunday who is a half-sister to Not A Single Doubt out of Snippets half-sister Singles Bar (Rory’s Jester).

Breakfast In Bed has a yearling filly by Redoute’s Choice who was sold by Segenhoe Stud at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $425,000 to Yu Long Investments. 

After foaling a filly by I Am Invincible last spring, Breakfast In Bed was covered by Pierro.
